A new book that explores the history and development of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, which is such a prominent feature in our region, was published June 8.

The Appalachian Trail: A Biography is authored by Phil D’Anieri, a lecturer in architecture and regional planning at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.   He also teaches in the Program in the Environment at the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.
